Sector and market landscape

Retail shrink — theft, fraud, and operational loss — costs US retailers over $100 billion annually. AI video intelligence turns existing camera infrastructure into active loss prevention and operational analytics, without new hardware.

US retail shrink loss
$100B+ annually
Theft, fraud, and operational loss across store formats at scale.
Hardware compatibility

Enterprise entry point

Sector thesis

Retail AI surveillance wins in enterprise by solving the hardware compatibility problem, pricing per location rather than per camera, and making shrink reduction measurable at the store level. The constraint is not the technology — it is the go-to-market motion and the financial model behind it.

Engagement scope

Advisory engagement began following completion of the Techstars Detroit program and the company's pre-seed close. Relationship originated through Techstars Mentor Madness.

Financial model and revenue architecture
Built the financial model used for internal planning and fundraising, including revenue architecture across SMB subscription and enterprise tiers. Enterprise contracts require distinct assumptions from the SMB per-camera model — location-based pricing, deployment cost, and SLA structure.
Enterprise GTM strategy
Designed the pivot from SMB subscription accounts to enterprise retail. Target vertical selection, buyer mapping across VP of Loss Prevention and VP of Operations, multi-location contract structure, and enterprise sales motion.
Product strategy
Supported product positioning and roadmap prioritization to align platform capabilities with enterprise buyer requirements — compliance, integration depth, and deployment scale across 100+ store locations.
Fundraising positioning
Advised on investor narrative and pitch structure for the $3M seed round. Supported the enterprise pivot story and strategic framing for institutional investors.
